About the Library

The School Library of Kendriya Vidylaya Kanjikode, Palakkad caters to the information needs of 71 staff and 1961 students. The KV Library is fully automated and offers online services to the members of the library through this library website and library blogs.

The School library has a collection of over 12000 books and 51 periodicals. The library also have educational and general multimedia and is well equipped with five latest multimedia computers with Internet access.

The library is the technology hub of the Vidyalaya fully automated and offers online services through Library Website, Blogs, Digital Repository and Mobile App.

Library Programmes

Books are just the beginning!

The library points were awarded to the students for their library usage and library behavior. To ensure the transparency of the library point system, the points awarded to the students were made available on library website where anyone can search the library points secured by the students.

Library Treasure Hunt is used a User Orientation Programme to the students of Class VI to familiarise them with library collection and arrangement. A set of fact finding type of question are used to introduce them to various types referene sources, classification and shelving system in the library etc.

Get Caught Reading was introduced to motivate the students to utilise their free time in the school reading books. The students who were caught "reading a book" during their free time will be rewarded with library points/special gifts.

Training programmes and workshops are organised by the library after school hours and specially assigned time slots to equip the students with Information Technology skills.

Book Title Challenge is a specially designed competition where the students will have to identify the title of a book from the pictorial clue provided.

The students are encouraged to gift a book to the library on their birthdays and special occasions. Book Donation Drive is organised once in a year during library week celebrations.

School Reading Together is organised at least thrice in a year. A period, preferably in the morning, is allotted as reading hour and all the staff and student read together.

Library co-ordinates many external competitions for the students including CBSE Heritage India Quiz, Green Olympiad, JuniorINCTF, Spellbee and various other contests. Online quiz competitions are conducted using the platform developed by the librarian during special occasions.
